Mumbai - Not the perfect way to begin the wk !!
On monday the 16th of apr'12 I was stranded between the tilaknagar & kurla station...hanging for around 25 mins...
Then the railway decided to divert me to another line & I had to move on...
Co-incidently it was the same day the auto rickshaws called in a strike across our state..!!
I thought That was the worst thing to happen to mumbaikars but hold on...
Today, some fire between kurla & vidyavihar has killed the nervous system of our city !!
Scores of ppl are stranded on the roads, buses crowded..no place to get in !!
I wonder -- is there a solution to commuters woes ??
The problem lies in the way our city is planned...but we can't do much about that, can we??
& the govt cares little about the ordeal people go through everyday...in-fact, if there was a VIP in our city...they would still barricade our roads...
So here are a few things WE can do instead of just bragging & complaining / whining ..
1. Let's get this straight.. The auto / taxi -wallas need us .. Once, we commuters need to join hands to stop them from taking us for a "ride" !! Yaa, we tried Meter-bandh....but Mumbai.. there was no support at all !!!
2. Let's start by sharing our public transport...basically the taxis n auto..
Not only will this save money...but also reduce the traffic on the road..
3. Car Pooling !! Sounds good...but there's no headway !!
Can we offer people on the road a ride en route.. It is, in a way good for All ... Not only will it reduce the traffic, but also cost less for the owners !!
4. I am sure we have heard of Waterways !!
One can go from panvel - gateway - goregaon in steamers / ferries .. Its time we urge our govt to start such services...our natural resources are being wasted !!
5. Consider cycling for short distances...
This will free up the autos...& also reduce our dependency on them... Its a way to reduce pollution as well..Needless to say, its advantages to our health !
And finally...
6. It is Time we Speak Up to our ministers & Municipal office bearers to get the flyovers & roads repaired...
Fellow Mumbaikars...its time we stop being ignorant about the way we lead our lives...
Time for a change !! What say??
